Electronic music is not only for dance floors and festival ecstasies; it can also have a powerful therapeutic effect.
According to a new survey by health technology company Tebra, as many as 14% of respondents choose EDM as their number one music genre when they feel depressed. The study analyzed data from more than 1,000 people, as well as over 68,000 songs from “mental health” playlists on Spotify.
The results indicate that music plays a key role in mental health, with 79% of respondents using music as an emotional support tool and 61% stating that it helps them combat anxiety. It is also interesting that 1 in 3 healthcare professionals believe that EDM is among the most beneficial genres for mental well-being.
Given that electronic music often combines hypnotic rhythms, melancholic melodies, and a collective experience of liberation, it is no surprise that an increasing number of people are turning to it in search of solace, balance, and inner peace.
