ĐORĐE NOVKOVIĆ – HITMAKER: A PHILHARMONIC TRIBUTE ON CD AND BLU-RAY

The lavish Đorđe Novković – Hitmaker edition (CD + Blu-ray) is now available, paying contemporary tribute to one of the most important composers in Croatian and wider regional pop music. The project features 10 of Novković’s timeless hits in brand-new philharmonic arrangements, recorded at Abbey Road Studio One (London) and at the Croatia Records Studio (Zagreb).

The music is performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Steve Sidwell (a Grammy-winning conductor), with the participation of 29 Croatian instrumentalists, nine arrangers, and 10 soloists. The production (mix/master/overall production) is credited to Goran Martinac, while iCCKelčec created the visual identity.

Soloists and standout moments

The album includes major artists long associated with Novković’s legacy—such as Neda Ukraden, Željko Bebek, Gabi Novak, Zdravko Čolić, Vlado Kalember, Severina, and Mišo Kovač—and also brings fresh energy through first-time recordings of Novković songs by Petar Grašo, Boris Novković, and Mia Dimšić. Particularly emotional highlights include Gabi Novak’s last recorded performance (on Nada) and the orchestral version of Ostala si uvijek ista, which incorporates Mišo Kovač’s original vocal recording from 1984.
