ULTRA EUROPE 2025 – THE RISE OF CROATIA’S FLAGSHIP EDM

Ultra Europe 2025 took place from July 11 to 13 in Park Mladeži, Split, once again confirming its position as the most important electronic music festival in this part of Europe. The event attracted a record-breaking crowd of over 160,000 visitors from more than 120 countries, offering a spectacular music and artistic show as well as a significant economic, tourism, and media event for Split and the wider region.

The organization and production of Ultra Europe continue to lead the field with top-tier quality. In 2025, the festival was held on four stages: the Main Stage featuring global EDM stars, the Resistance Stage focused on underground techno and house music, the UMF Radio Stage showcasing emerging artists, and the Oasis Stage, known for its more relaxed and intimate vibe. Just days before the festival, severe storms damaged parts of the stage construction and LED screens. However, the organizers acted promptly and professionally to repair all damages, ensuring the festival opened on time without delays.

The stage design included over 500 square meters of LED screens, advanced lighting and laser effects, pyrotechnics, and a full 360-degree fireworks display. The official Ultra Europe mobile app served as the key platform for festival-goers to browse schedules, receive recommendations, and navigate the venue effectively.

The music program spanned three days with 88 world-renowned DJs and producers performing. Highlights included Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Tiësto (returning after six years with a special set), Adam Beyer, Mau P, Carl Cox, Solomun, Amelie Lens, ARTBAT, and John Summit, making his Ultra Europe debut. Regional artists, like Joe2Shinea, were also featured, adding local flavor. The lineup emphasized a broad range of styles, from mainstream EDM to techno and house. Attendees praised the technological advancements in production and the high quality of performances, enjoying the energetic atmosphere lasting well into the early morning.

Given the large influx of visitors, logistics were meticulously managed. Infrastructure and traffic were under continuous control, with no major disruptions or security breaches. Enhanced safety measures were implemented via close cooperation between the police and private security. On opening night, 116 arrests were made primarily for minor drug-related offenses, but no serious incidents or injuries occurred. Free shuttle bus services were offered, including special premium shuttles by boat to nearby islands.

After the main weekend in Split, the festival extended its reach to nearby Dalmatian islands—Brač, Hvar, and Vis—through the “Destination Ultra” concept. Exclusive parties, beach events on Hvar, and afterparties on Vis enriched the overall seven-day festival experience, boosting tourism in these locales. Additionally, Ultra Europe introduced a new official fashion collection and special merchandise, emphasizing the lifestyle aspect of the festival brand.

Economically, Ultra Europe generated considerable benefits for the local and national economy. Accommodation and hospitality venues in Split reported record occupancy and revenues, with many accommodations fully booked well in advance. Organizers expect official statistics to show even greater numbers than previous years, with detailed sales and attendance figures to be released after the full seven-day program concludes.

The festival received widespread media coverage both regionally and internationally. Social media buzzed with photos and videos under the hashtag #ultraeurope, reflecting overwhelmingly positive feedback on atmosphere, production, and musical diversity. Some attendees noted issues with crowd density and high prices for drinks and food, yet these concerns did not detract from the overall positive reception.

In conclusion, Ultra Europe 2025 has strengthened Croatia’s and Split’s reputation as a premier electronic music destination of international standing. Despite weather-related challenges, the successful delivery of the festival with high safety standards and outstanding production confirmed positive impressions from fans, artists, and media alike. The festival’s long-term future in Split is secured through agreements until at least 2029, ensuring its ongoing contribution to the development of Croatia’s tourism and cultural brand on the global stage.
