The most popular Croatian musician, Marko Perković Thompson, presents the official music video for the song “Nepročitano pismo”, with which he symbolically paid tribute to Ban Petar Zrinski.
The video has already won the audience’s hearts and is on the trending list of YouTube.
Inspired by a historical event from 1671, the song refers to the farewell letter Ban Petar Zrinski dedicated to his beloved wife Katarina the day before his execution, together with Fran Krsto Frankopan. Broken by grief, Katarina died in captivity in 1673, and their love became a symbol of Croatia’s struggle for freedom. Exceptional music, lyrics, and production by Marko Perković Thompson characterized the song. At the same time, the video’s visual identity further complements the song’s strong emotional component, creating a deep connection with the historical moment to which the song refers.
The filming of the video took place in historical locations, including the Old Town of Ozalj, the Old Town of Čakovec, Ribnik Fortress, and Medvedgrad. At the same time, Mladen Vulić plays the leading roles as Petar Zrinski, Kornelija Palić Papafava as Ana Katarina Zrinski, and Davor Tarbuk as Fran Krsto Frankopan. Other roles went to Dubravko Lekić as a priest, Anta Rnić as an executioner, Luka Pedić and Ivan Capan as soldiers, and Ivan Ivkošić, Una Popović, Anamarija Jonjić, and Milan Palčić as horsemen.
The official video, which gives the impression of an actual film about a piece of Croatian history, is directed by Marko Zeljković and Sandra Mihaljević. At the same time, Sandra Mihaljević and Karpo Media realized the video production.
Special thanks go to the “Brothers of the Croatian Dragon” Society, the Ozalj Native Museum, the Međimurje Museum in Čakovec, the Zrinski Guard Čakovec, the “Medvedgrad” Visitor Center, and the Friends’ Club of the City of Trsat. Their support and trust allowed this story to come to life correctly.
