REVIEW OF THE GROUP EXHIBITION BEYOND SOUND VOL. 3

This time, the focus is on the Photo Section of KSET, which presents its works, i.e., the best captured moments at concerts in photography. With their work and effort, the gathered members maintain the tradition of analog photography while nurturing and following modern digital photography techniques.

The authors of the photos presented the essence of concert photography in their way. It is fast, dynamic, eternally on the move, and unpredictable, so it is necessary to include one’s resourcefulness in looking for composition in space, whether small or large. What additionally delights and gives the photos a unique feature is the complete game, i.e. experimenting both with compositions, and so on at the same time with the light, facial expressions of the protagonists and the increasingly present double exposure which is not simple and you need to know what to do and in which direction the authors want to go.

As for the photographs themselves, there are black-and-white and color photographs. The vast majority of color photos have a creative mix of backgrounds in motion blur and vibrant colors, which suggests a live music event’s dynamic and energetic atmosphere, be it a rave party, an electronic music concert or a rock’n’roll festival.

The use of light trails in individual photos creates a sense of movement and speed, reflecting the rhythm and intensity of the music. At the same time, different perspectives and shooting angles add variety to the series.

Emotional expressions are of intense focus and concentration, revealing a deep connection with music and creation. The story that the photographs try to tell is a story of artistic passion and performance power, on both sides. These are recordings of raw emotions, the intense focus needed to convey a message through music. The beauty of black and white photos is that in the absence of color –
She enhances the mood, allowing viewers to focus on the scene’s textures, light, and overall feel.

In the selected photographs, conceptuality is drawn through the prism of intimate portraits within the concert context, while in some pictures, the focus is on the togetherness and interaction of the musicians, highlighting the synergy created during the performance. Concert photography is not only about portraiture but also about conveying the entire atmosphere of the event—lights, smoke, audience, and energy. It is essential to capture the performance’s movement, emotions, and spontaneity.

Experimenting with shooting angles, lighting and composition can result in unique and striking photos. Good concert photos tell a story, creating memories and emotions for the observer. Photography celebrates the transformative nature and ability of the author to connect with his audience through
your art.
